Computer

My studio is based around a Macbook Pro fully loaded with 16GB of Ram and 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processing. Paired with my thunderbolt connected Universal Audio 8-core PCIe processing card I am able to run hundreds of tracks and plugins in a single Pro Tools, Logic, Or Ableton session.

Interface

Universal Audio’s Apollo 8p and Apollo Twin. These two thunderbolt linked interfaces are the backbone of my studio giving me a total of 10 analog inputs. They have onboard plugin processing allowing me to record and monitor through UAD’s award winning analog emulations of SSL, Neve, and API consoles with near zero latency. In my humble opinion, these are best interfaces in their class.

Monitors-*new*!

I am pleased to say that I am now mixing on the world class Event Opal studio monitors. In a studio monitor "supertest" Future Music magazine rated the Event Opal's as the best monitors ever made. These monitors made a huge splash in the industry when they were announced in 2008 as Event's owner, Peter Freedman, proclaimed that the Opals were the result of his company's quest to make "the best two-way monitors in the world." Though there is a certain amount of subjectivity in regards to studio monitors, 7 years later many have agreed. The stats are staggering: a frequency response of 35Hz - 22Khz, virtually eliminating the need for a subwoofer, a max power handling of 720 Watts, and distortion levels of less than 0.005%. But it's the sound of these monitors, their jaw-dropping clarity, their effortless ability to reproduce extremely fast transients, and their brutal transparency that make them a mixing engineers dream speakers. (Opals are not pictured above)

DAW's

I am proficient in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live and I use whichever DAW (Digital audio workstation) suits the project best. However, I typically produce and record in Logic or Ableton and I edit and mix in Pro Tools.

Plugins

Waves and Universal Audio plugins are the backbone of my mixes and productions. I also regularly use plugins from company’s such as Soundtoys, Native Instruments, FabFilter, Valhalla DSP, Slate Digital, Antares, Celemony, and many more.
